Hai + Van Engagement P1

Despite that it was Tuesday, the ground was packed with people and all excitement from one of the biggest fairs in Washington. I chose it as background for Hai and Van's engagement session and believed that it would be the best reflection of their sweet and fun personalities... excitingly, the couple agreed with me, and we set the date for a fun photo shoot.

I shot this entire session with the Canon 5D Mark II and Canon 50mm f/1.4. Sure enough they are the best pair that I can dream of. The Canon 5D Mark II is a real beast in producing amazing images with accurate color tone, high contrast, and clean images with minimal digital noise. The large f/1.4 aperture provides very shallow depth of fiel to allow me effectively isolate the busy background and focus on the couple.

For most of the time, I tried to sneak out of their sights and just let them enjoy and have fun with each other. I simply held still and waited for the right moments to press the shutter button. I love all the candid shoots which capture their pure happiness and excitement.

Beside photographing the couple, I also love snapping some photos of interesting details around because I  want to give them not only some nice photos of themselves but also to give them the whole picture of that date... so when looking through the photos they would still be able to recall the sound, the lights, the smells, and the craziness of fairground on that date.

This photo shoot once again helps me to confirm my photography philosophy that "I don't own own a studio and do not plan for one because I believe there is no better place to capture people than at their most comfortable environment with natural light."

Happy Monday!
