Although it was not my first time shooting an engagement, I was still nervous. It was just the feeling that I (and maybe most people) would get before any exciting moments. I was also anxious because I was going to shoot the entire ceremony by myself with no assistance, beside having KM help me to swap the lens for couple times. It was also a pressure that this is the engagement of my good friends, and they deserve the best pictures that I can produce.
With all the gears tided up, I was ready for the big mission: to document the Engagement of Hai + Van.
The day started off smoothly with me arriving early to Van's house to take some getting-ready and detail shots.
I love the morning light. The fresh and soft light just magically adds splendidly shine to details and makes the scene more dramatic.
The simple white walls and celling may not be the best background but they surely help all the details pop. They also serve as the perfect natural reflectors to add more light to the scene.
There are ton of beautiful details and with a lot-and-lot of colors. The day was dominated by red and yellow which are definitely a good pair to bring all the excitement and cheerfulness the event.
Van was for sure the center of the day... she looked gorgeous in the vivid red aodai sparkling with elegant details.
Although the ceremony was indoor, I got amazing light from the two big windows from the side, which just makes everything pop and look its best.
It is always fun and challenging for group shots... it often requires all of my coordinating and describing skills to have people line up neatly... and a wide angle lens is a must to get everyone in the frame.
I love the cake! It is beautiful and truly a center piece of the ceremony, yet delicious with durian and coconut fillings.
